Burn Ban Information

Notice of Burn Ban

After consultation with Emergency Management, County Judge Scott M. Felton, as authorized by the McLennan County Commissioners Court, is lifting the “Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning” for McLennan County due to the rainfall received.

Although the “Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning’ is being lifted, citizens are urged to use extreme caution when engaging in any outdoor burning activity as parts of the county are still dry.

In addition, McLennan County has a Red Flag Warning Burn Ban order in place. A Red Flag Warning Burn Ban Order bans any burning in the unincorporated areas of the county ONLY when a Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service.

A Red Flag Warning means warm temperatures, very low humidities, and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.

Control Burn Information

When planning a control burn, check to see what color flag is flying at the Fire Station. A Red flag indicates a burn ban is in effect and a Green flag indicates clear to burn. Always report control burns by calling the McLennan County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at (254) 757-5222. Remember, control burns must be down to ash by SUNDOWN.
